Effective August 8, 2025, Brian Prodin, CPSM, has assumed the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO), succeeding Larry Cozart, who is retiring after nine years of distinguished service. Under the leadership of Brian Prodin, Arnold will intensify its focus on innovation, operational excellence, and customer-driven solutions.

During his tenure as COO, Larry Cozart made a lasting impact on Arnold’s growth and operational success. He was a champion for critical investments, continuously fostered innovation and process improvements, and provided steadfast support to Arnold’s global team. His leadership helped strengthen Arnold’s position as an engineering-driven solutions provider while advancing the company’s reputation for operational excellence. Brian Prodin, an accomplished operations leader, with more than 35 years of manufacturing industry experience, joins Arnold with a record of driving transformational change across complex global operations. His career began at Ford Motor Company in manufacturing and applications engineering, followed by progressive leadership roles in program management and business development with automotive component suppliers. He later joined Plastic Omnium Clean Energy Systems as Director for North American Sales & Program Management, subsequently being appointed to leadership roles to oversee Purchasing and Supply Chain functions across Europe and the Americas. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Global Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations, for the Motorized Manufacturing Group of Brand Safway. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Wayne State University.

Enhancements drive sustainable manufacturing and operational excellence at Precision Thin Metals Facility

Arnold’s PTM operation opened in their new facility in Woodstock, IL earlier this year, and has undergone comprehensive upgrades to multiple key pieces of equipment. These overhauls are already delivering measurable improvements in both product quality and delivery timelines, strengthening Arnold’s position as a trusted supplier to critical industries.

In addition to equipment enhancements, the new facility incorporates a range of advanced environmental technologies. PTM now utilizes air oxidizers that clean emissions from various equipment, ensuring that approximately 99% of the air released is clean. A closed-loop chiller system has been installed for process cooling water, eliminating the need for continuous fresh water consumption and drastically reducing daily water waste. High-efficiency LED lighting has been implemented throughout the facility, further reducing energy consumption and environmental impact.

PTM has installed a new bromide recycling still, which reduces the need to purchase new degreasing chemicals by approximately 70%. The company has also added a HydroFlo Tech automatic pH balancing filtration system to manage wastewater discharge from the annealing furnace’s wash and rinse tanks.

Arnold will move its operations 14 miles from Marengo, Illinois to the new facility in Woodstock, which is also in McHenry County. The new location was carefully selected to be convenient for the existing workforce to easily make the transition. The relocation will occur during the 4^th quarter of 2024 and will follow a structured, phased approach designed to minimize disruption to Arnold’s customers. This transition comes on the brink of Arnold’s 130th anniversary in 2025, opening an exciting new chapter in the history of the company.

Arnold’s CEO, Dan Miller, commented, “The Marengo facility has been with Arnold since 1930, and it has allowed us to serve countless customers, having a permanent place in the history of this company. We are very pleased to announce the acquisition of a state of the art 130,000 square foot manufacturing facility located in Woodstock, IL for our Alnico division. This capital investment is the culmination of a strategic review process aimed at ensuring Arnold’s ability to meet the future growth requirements of our customers. With this move however, we must take a look at our future product offerings.

As of 12/31/2024 Arnold will no longer offer Sintered Alnico products. If you have demand for Sintered Alnico magnets please place your POs as soon as possible in order to be produced at our facility prior to the plant relocation. Arnold Engineers are standing by to help assist a transition to a Cast Alnico grade magnet for your product needs. Arnold also offers other magnet materials such as Samarium Cobalt and Neodymium Iron Boron. We have magnetics and motor design engineers at our Technology Center ready to help with the replacement process.

The relocation process has been thoughtfully planned and will be a structured, phased approach designed to minimize disruption to our customers. The relocation will occur during the 4th quarter of 2024 and will be completed by January 1st, 2025. That said if you have demand for Sintered Alnico products please place your POs as soon as possible.

Arnold and Cyclic will work together to develop a rare earth recycling program, creating an unprecedented circular supply chain for rare earth materials.

Arnold produces permanent magnets made from rare earth materials. Cyclic Materials’ recycling capabilities allow for the reuse of rare earth materials reclaimed from magnets. While previous recycling measures only reclaim select elements, Cyclic Materials plans to recycle all elements from Arnold’s supply feed to offer a broader range of recycled materials at a much higher yield. This will allow Arnold to source recycled, rare earth Samarium, Neodymium, and Dysprosium, along with non-rare earth cobalt from Cyclic Materials moving forward, creating a North American supply source. Arnold is exploring options for expanding this partnership to the rest of their North American locations.

Rare earth magnets are used in a myriad of applications across all markets, including electric motor applications. For this application, rare earth magnets are especially sought after due to their power-dense material characteristics and relatively lightweight composition. These unique characteristics can be utilized to greatly increase the power density of electric motors. By utilizing recycled rare earth materials in its future magnets, Arnold will be able to increase the sustainable impact of electric motors and other products.

Currently, rare earth supply chains are extremely dependent upon China. Arnold and Cyclic Materials will be able to reduce dependence upon foreign nations for these materials by increasing supply chain efficiency with value-added recycling. This reduces waste both up and downstream and greatly reduces environmental impact as a result. With this partnership, Arnold will need fewer virgin materials and will increase the resiliency of their supply chain—offering more capacity and more flexibility for production.
